The Borders has its own strong traditions, from the common ridings to the abbey towns of Melrose, Kelso, Jedburgh and Dryburgh. Ceilidhs are part of local life here, so Borders guest lists often include plenty of people who know the dances and want them played properly.
Weddings here range from country houses and castles along the Tweed to town halls, hotels and community venues. Are Ye Dancin? has played Borders events from Barony Castle at Eddleston to Mansfield House in Hawick and the British Legion in Kelso, according to the couples and families quoted below.
It's about 62 miles from the band's Perth base, mostly on A-roads, so we allow more time than the mileage suggests and plan to arrive early. The whole region is inside the free-travel area, and so is Berwick-upon-Tweed, even though it's in England.
Country venues with a marquee or barn should check power and flooring for the dancing. We're happy to go over the details with your venue.

- Packages cover up to 4 hours of performance unless agreed otherwise. Extra hours are £120 per hour.
- Travel is free within 100 miles of Perth, which takes in Dundee, Fife, Stirling, Edinburgh, the Lothians, Glasgow, Loch Lomond, Ayrshire, the Borders, Aberdeen and Dumfries & Galloway as far west as Kirkcudbright. Further out, a contribution for mileage, travel time and any overnight stay is quoted up front.
